Presidential Election 2012

The final Presidential debate was tonight. I have to admit that I missed the first one, only watched an hour of the second one, and fast forwarded through a lot of what Obama said in the third one. I really don't like discussing politics especially with friends, but I'm just going to leave these here.
Go Mitt!

So basically I'm obsessed with all of these shows!! If you don't watch them, you should! If you do, let's talk about them!!

I seriously love each one of them. I'm get so excited every Sunday afternoon because I have this little OH YEA! moment when I realize Revenge will be on. I also added 666 Park Avenue to the excitement. I was skeptical at first for fairly obvious reasons, but also because I hate (hate, hate, hate) scary movies. After giving it a few watches though, I've decided it's just thrilling and suspenseful so nothing to worry about... yet. Nashville. Ohh Nashville. We're only one episode in and I love you already. One of my friends said you were "just like Country Strong, but I don't think so. Just because you're both all about country music doesn't mean you'll turn out the same. I'm excited to see how this plays out.
Maybe I'll start doing little recaps? I always want to talk about shows that I love and my friends don't watch all of the ones I do. I'd love to have chats with people about them!!

I mean check out these gorgeous casts!! Love my new shows and can't wait to see how the seasons unfold!

Thoughts of the Moment

  1. I keep avoiding cleaning my room like it's the plague...
  2. LOVED my Pumpkin Party with my girls at my mom's house last night. I just wish everyone could have made it!
  3. I need to stop drinking so much diet coke.
  4. work out, tan, work out, tan, work out, tan.. you get the idea
  5. No going out to eat this week has been easier than I expected. Yay for no junk food!
  6. It's going to be really hard to save money. Looking at my "earned to date" tab on my pay check makes me sick. No money saved. All of it spent. Sad.
  7. I really need to start building some credit.
  8. I've gotten somewhat better at paying my bills on time!
  9. The last 3 ^ have made me realize I'm growing up... que anxiety attack.
  10. I wish blogger was as easy to design and style as tumblr.
  11. I'm very happy being single.
I love that I came across my old thoughts of the moment Sunday on tumblr. It's weird that even though they were all a year old or so I remember exactly what the situations were and what was going on. It's funny how the memory works.

Lazy Sunday

Sunday was weird. I had the day off and I decided I needed to spend time at home with Sippi and myself. I had a "me" day. I LOVE them. I didn't do anything special. I didn't even paint my nails. I laid around all day on my sofa and caught up on tivo. I worked out. I ate pizza rolls and drank 4 diet cokes. I went to my mom's with Avery and decorated for Halloween. After that, I worked out for the first time in so long that I'm embarrassed to admit the true time to myself.
During all of this I had a weird feeling. It was a feeling I remember having my freshman year about this same time of year. I decided to go back through my tumblr page and it reminded me of the person I was  two years ago. I was so confused and lost and emotional. I feel that way again to some extent. I'm not saying I wasn't happy then because I was but I had this very stressed relationship with myself. Does that make sense? Probably not but I'm kind of going through it again. Granted I'm in a much much better place than I was then, but the feeling is still there. It's very strange and I'm trying to figure it out.
If anyone wants to go through my tumblr page I'd definitely start with page one

Whewwwww
Nice to get that out.

Catch Up

The last few months have been full of change for me. Some of them welcomed and others... not so much. But that's life right? The important thing about it all is how you handle it and what you make of the things that come your way. I think I've been doing a pretty good job with that!

I finally got a job at a boutique downtown that I've wanted to work at since my junior year of high school! I am absolutely IN LOVE with it! Miss Behavin has been my favorite store to shop at for four years and I'm so happy I have the chance to be a part of the MB team. Luckily for me, I was good friends with every girl that works there so I always feel like I'm going to hang out with my friends. How fun is that?

I'm also taking this semester off from school. I was starting to freakkk out about my major and what I want to do with my life so my mom actually suggested that I take some time off to see if I can figure something out. It's been a blessing. I feel like I can actually breathe and I'm so thankful I am able to do what I need to do for me.

On a more personal note, I am now single. Things ended between Elliott and I on relatively good terms, but break ups will always suck so I've just been trying to deal with that the best I can. What can ya do?

I also lost a best friend. Jinx passed away on September 1st and there hasn't been a day that I don't think about him. He was one of the happiest and caring people I knew. I know that he will always be remembered with a smile on his face and that is the most beautiful gift you could ever leave behind.

On a happier note, Sippi is 9 months old! She's 58 pounds and thinks she's a lap dog. It's so ridiculous. She also sleeps on all four of my pillows at night. I can't believe she's as old and big as she is. We were playing fetch yesterday and I had one of those flashbacks and just imagined her as a month old puppy running back to me. I miss those days!!

Oh and I have a new roommate! Natalie and I became friends in the Spring of our senior year of high school. She has been such a good roommate and I'm soo happy we get along so well. Finding a good roommate is hard but it's perfect when you're on the same page when it comes to cleaning and all that good stuff. Woo for not being stressed when I go home!

Alright that's enough for today. I'm not going to say I'll start blogging more because I've been saying that for a year and clearly I suck at it BUT maybe I'll change? I kinda doubt it but I'll try!!

Have a happy day!

my latest adventure

July has been such a fun month! A lot of my friends came back to Oxford for summer school and there was always something going on. It was so nice to finally have plans on a Thursday night! I made a lot of new friends and became closer to others I didn't really expect to be close to. It's been a good summer!

I also started a little business! Hopefully it won't stay too little for long! I'm working on a website and logo right now. I'm also finishing getting all of my accounts set up with all of the amazing companies my mom and I found at market in Atlanta two weeks ago. I want to reveal the name when I have the logo all put together! I pray that this will take off and be a great site for personalized gifts and jewelry. I need all of the prayers I can get so send them my way please! :)

Here are just a few of the amazing items we will have available!

Game Day Gear!
Dresses and Totes

Hotty Toddy! ;)
adorable linen totes that are great for class or the pool

Perfect make up bags

Acrylic Jewelry

Jane Basch Jewelry!!!

Precious monogrammed rainboots

sweet little pillows for your bedroom or living room

And so much more!!!

I am so excited about this adventure and can't wait for everything to be up and running!

So I've been busy...

It's been a while. In fact, it's been over half the summer and I haven't blogged once. Silly, forgetful Laney. Oh well. Moving on.

The first weekend of summer I went to Steeplewaste. I mean Steeplechase. I stayed with my bestie Nola and lots of girlfrans and had a blast drinking mimosas and laughing with friends. I'd post a pic but apparently my camera and iPhoto aren't friends. My pictures won't open. Has this happened to anyone else?? Thanks a lot Nikon. Here's a selfie of me midday.

I'm so attractive I know.

Two weeks later I went to Charleston for the second year in a row with Elliott and his parents. We went to the Spoleto Arts Festival and it was so much fun! I just discovered there isn't a single picture of Elliott and I from the 4 days we were there?? Cool smelliott. But I did manage to take some beautiful pics of the College of Charleston campus after lunch one day.

The next weekend, Elliott and I went to a wedding reception with his parents for a family friend's daughter. There was a lot of drinks and tiny food and dancing. It was a very fun time with Elliott and his mom and dad. Check out that sweet necklace I got from F21 for $5! I'm in love with it!

Also,  during my visit to Atlanta my sweet boy got me a Michael Kors watch! I mean how awesome is that!? Love that kid.

Welcome to my stack MK!

Oh and since I'm so obsessed with instagram here's a picture of a peony from the wedding.

my favorite flower

Avery and I went to visit my Gran for a night after my visit to Atlanta. Gran makes homemade sour dough bread. We grew up eating it every morning whenever we spent the night with her. It just tastes like home. She gave me a bread starter and took me to the grocery to get all of the supplies to start making her bread on my own! It is amazing and it feels so good to have that connection to Gran.

YUM!

Andddddd here's a Sippi pic because she's growing up so fast and it's been a while since you've seen her.

Be back... wheneva!

Ohh what a lovely Thursday today has already been and it's only 1 o'clock!
Last night I went to Boure with Nola and her mom, Jilly Bean. It was soo good and so nice to see her and catch up for the first time since New Years when I was in Nashville. This morning we went to Bottletree Bakery where I ate wayy too much. I chowed down on a honey cream cheese danish (tdf) and a blueberry muffin (delish) and I swear I could go for some more right about now.

Tomorrow Elliott and I are heading down to New Orleans for formal!!! We will spend the whole weekend on Bourbon with all of our friends and I'm so excited! It is my first trip to NOLA and I absolutely can not wait!! My sweet friend Bridges is lending me a gorgeoussss BCBGeneration dress that I am absolutely obsessed with. I may even buy it for myself!

I will be posting pictures of my adventure early next week! Have a happy weekend!

Weekend Update

Soooo this weekend was boring. It wasn't boring in the sense that there was nothing to do, because there is almost always something to do in Oxford. I say boring because anyone else would probably be miserable doing what I did... which was nothing.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights were spent laying on my couch with my puppy and my boy and they were wonderful!! I am a big fan of "vegging out." (see Pretty Woman for definition) At one point I kiiiinda wanted to go out or something but then I plopped down on my sofa and decided to stay put. It was awesome.

Saturday was not so calm and relaxing. I literally spent NINE HOURS  running around doing things for my little sister, Avery, and my mom. It was her senior prom and she was hosting a sit down dinner pool side at home. I had to pick up all of the table wear and serving dishes, take her to get a necklace, take her to get her hair done, pick up the boutonniere, do her make up and set up the house for her.
I worked my butt off but it was all worth it. It was very beautiful! I couldn't get any pictures that did it justice but it was a very sweet and fun time for the little babies.

Also, I can't believe these kids are graduating. I'm not that much older than them, but it's still weird that Avery and her friends will be in college next year! What the heck!?!!?

I mean LOOK at my sissy!!! She is GORG! Avery wore a beautiful minty aqua colored chiffon dress with fun glitzy detailing. I was exactly the thing I dreamed of finding for my own senior prom and never could. I'm so happy she did because it was perfect for her! Obviously, I'm obsessed.

All in all it was a good chill weekend. Which I needed since I will be in NEW ORLEANS NEXT WEEKEND!!!! I'm so pumped.

Be back soon!

Wonderful Wednesday

I don't think that I have shared on my blog how much I love Wednesdays. They're my favorite because I don't have class Thursday!! So really, Thursdays are my favorite but W's are great too since I get the entire afternoon to myself! After my two classes I am ONE class away from the weekend and I love it!

I had to keep reminding myself of this today!

This Wednesday wasn't the norm. I was in a bad mood and every little thing kept bothering me. Don't ya hate days like that? My sweet mama saved the day! Or night I should say. We went to a nice dinner and when I was taking her home she said, "Do you need anything from Walmart?" SCORE! As much as I detest that annoying place, the regular visits are necessary for me to get through life with the things I need. My mom spent a ridiculous amount of money on me stocking my fridge and getting me little things I've needed for a while. It's sooo nice when that happens!

I started and finished watching the show Revenge this week. All 16 episodes took me less than three days to watch.. kinda sad but I just HAD to know what was going on! If you don't watch it, START. It's one of the best shows I've watched in a while. It has a great plot, beautiful characters, and keeps you guessing so you never get bored watching. Loves it!

Oh and the icing on the cake for the day was this:

Sippi started playing with a water hose. The next thing I know she's soaking wet and covered in mud. Not happy! But she still looks kinda cute don't ya think?

That's all I've got for today. I'm getting better at blogging! Twice in a week woohoo!

It's OK Thursday!

Today will be my second link up with Neely at A Complete Waste of Makeup. I think this is such a fun link up and I love reading other people's posts!

IT'S OK...

That I spent my entire day on the sofa watching Say Yes to the Dress and HGTV.

That I find Lean Cuisines very delicious and filling meals.

To buy another case of Diet Coke when you've sworn off the stuff. (it's crack, I swear)

To spend literally hours on this bad ass website laughing hysterically.

To super stalk a new fashion blog you love. Hi J's Everyday Fashion!

That the driver side door handle broke on your car and not to take it to the shop because you'd rather deal with it than be without a car for a few days..........

To spend literally 3 hours on the bed swing on your mom's porch on a random Wednesday afternoon.

To try and lose weight to fit into a dress for formal in New Orleans.

To feel extra accomplished when you check something off of your to do list.

To pull that "But Daddy pleeeeease" card.

To need glasses after 20 years of 20/20 vision.

To be freaking out waiting for your new nikeID tennies to come in the mail!!

To only post on your blog when you remember to every two weeks.

To cry watching Chopped... seriously. I did.

To take pictures of your dog constantly because you think she's the most precious thing ever.

To find a new close friend out of someone you didn't expect.

To steal your mother's furniture ;)

edit: To read tons of It's OK link ups to avoid studying for a geology test tomorrow! hehe

Love doing this! So tell me, do we share any weird qualities? I'd love to know!

Have a happy day!

I plan on making it a priority! Here are just a few things I saw on Pinterest that made me giggle this week. Puppies are just so cute!

Hahahah I crack up every time I see these. Hope they made you smile too!

So I have a little obsession..

Nail polish is one of my biggest obsessions. I literally can not get enough!! Whenever I'm in the supermarket or a drug store I always go straight to the beauty aisle to check out the latest polish.

I am an Essie fanatic! I refuse to buy OPI. I think it's too thick and it never fully dries. Like it can always scratch and make dents in it. Know what I mean? It's just not the stuff for me. I'm convinced that the nail salon ladies add something to it to thin it out and make it better because at home it just isn't the same.

I definitely have my favorite colors but I have recently become obsessed with "wild" nail colors. I think it's cool to have a fun pop of unexpected color on your nails. In the past, I turned away from anything that wasn't red or pink because my mother thought it was tacky which in turn made me think so too. Well that opinion no longer exists for me so I'm all over the color wheel with these pretty shades! Here are some of my favorites:

                                          Tart Deco                                     Lapiz of Luxury
Mint Candy Apple                           To Buy or Not To Buy

I am currently rocking the amazing lavender above and it is gorg on!! But if I were to please my mother and go with a pink or red I'd have to use one of these two:

                                           Geranium                                   Cute As A Button

Geranium is the PERFECT red and Cute As A Button is fun pink! Although the online picture doesn't do it justice. Hate when that happens!

Oh and if it's glitter you want, glitter is what you'll get with Set in Stones! It is perfect for special occasions and accent nails. I wore in on New Years Ever and have never gotten so many compliments on a polish before! It's great because it has multiple size glitters in it so it covers really well and has interest. I almost always have it on my toes. It makes me so happy to see the glitter when I'm in the shower or putting on shoes.

Like I said, I have an obsession. But with pretty and fun colors like these how can you not?! Essie is amazing and if you don't have a bottle you should definitely get some like now!

Happy polishing!

Yikes...

Here we are again with a month gone by since my last post. And I thought I was getting better about this! I'm just going to pretend that didn't happen...

I am currently sitting in my statistics class waiting for my teacher to show up. However, since this class is so boring and I don't know a soul in here I'm just going to spend my time blogging and Pinteresting (that's a verb right?) until 50 minutes has passed.

Quick update on my life as of the last month:

Elliott and I celebrated our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!!

I truly can't believe it's been an entire year. It doesn't feel like that much time has passed and at the same time it feels like so much longer. It just so happened that SAE has a Valentine's date party the same night. We went to dinner with a big group of friends and ended the night at a new bar on the square. But I keep telling myself it was just a huge party just for us. It was so much fun!

Meg and I at Swayze Field for the first game!

Baseball season also kicked off and is now in full swing! We have FIVE games this week!! Right field is def the place to be on game days. Everyone's in a great mood, the weather is always amazing, and the beer is never ending. The only problem I have is making it through the night after I've been to a game aka I'm a light weight.

Oh! My puppy!! I ended up naming the ball of joy Sippi and she is the light of my life!! It is so wild how much I love her. She literally warms my heart. She's getting so big I can't stand it. I wish I could slow her growing down just a little bit.

I suppose that's enough for now. I'll post tomorrow since I have the day off!!
